Weekly Blog No 22 – Home Staging – Katjazzled 1

I thought I would give you an update on how my home staging –  katjazzled is developing. I did discuss in an earlier post, Week 6 about Home Staging – Katjazzled. I’m going to show you some photos of home accessories placed around my home that I have brought and an insight to the colours that I have chosen to date

Each room has neutral walls & floor coverings as base tones and then I will inject a strong colour in accessories. On this occasion, I have used colours in my home that I have not always be my first choice before, however I’m happy that I can think outside the box. On the main floor I’ve used a lot of grey against the warm tones of cream, natural hardwood flooring and pine/oak furniture.   See the photo’s below

Dining Room

As the main floor area is open plan, I’ve decided to continue working with grey/silver but added a hint of green in the dining room

Mud Room

Mud Room 1

The mud room is the place were we remove our shoes etc. I have shoe polish stored in the drawers and Lottie’s lead usually hangs off the hooks too. I actually stained this piece in order to match an English church pew just below, which is not shown in the photo.

A  few weeks ago, I asked another friend who’s an amateur photographer and blogger, if I could have some of her work for my home. There was a few photos that particularly stuck me as exceptional.  I had two rooms that I was considering but I’ve only managed to place some of the photography in one area to date. I decided the upper landing/hall was perfect for the theme of travel, showing photography/art of my travels around the world. I will show my travel gallery art/photography at a later date.

Front Lobby

The front lobby is starting to take shape but it is still incomplete, there is another couple of things that I want to buy for the walls

Main/Guest Bathroom

Main/Guest Bathroom

I decided to choose a bright warm colour for accessories to the main/guest bathroom and went with yellow, which is warm and inviting.

Laundry Room

Laundry Room

I still have to finish the laundry room but I have plucked a colour from this picture to complete the accessories and wall art for this room.

2nd Guest Bedroom

2nd Guest Bedroom

I’m not a lover of purple as a rule but I do feel that if you get the right shade of purple with creams/beige it almost looks warm &  regal. This is a shade of purple that I am using to accessorize the 2nd guest bedroom.

I will never used strong colours on walls or floor coverings as I like to use neutral shades so that the interior of my home doesn’t date too quickly. I will always infuse strong/bold colours through accessories, which can easily changed over time if necessary.

Weekly Blog No 13 – Saskatoon Farm

After an exhausting week of scans, my husband and I decided to take a trip down Highway 2 to a place called Saskatoon Farm. I am assuming the farm was named after North American fruit. Saskatoon berries are grown on dense bushes in Western Canada, a dark purple fruit, which tastes both sweet and nutty. It is staple food with multi uses, jams, syrup and pies the list is endless.

Saskatoon Farm is a property with multi uses, a garden centre, a shop, a party venue, a chicken pen and a café. The farm has created various buildings that resemble a street scene in old town. I have taken various photos around the farm to show you its beauty and appeal to many visitors.

Weekly Blog No 6 – Home Staging – Katjazzled

Whilst recovering from my recent op it allows me time to think, which is so dangerous. My greatest ideas always come to me in bed as soon as I wake up. I wonder if anyone else experiences this? I was lying in my bed one morning thinking about the bedrooms that haven’t been accessorized yet or should I say Katjazzeled (another play on words). In the UK, let’s just say vajazzel means decorating something with stones and sparkle.

We moved into our new house in December 2013 and our bedrooms have not been Katjazzeled as yet. My initial thoughts were I need to reconfigure furniture as something is not quiet working. This is menacing when I get into this mode because it always involves work for my husband, bless him. My first issue was our master bedroom because it has to much wood going on, what I mean by that is our bedroom has a mountain/cabin feel. Don’t be misled, I love wooden furniture and always incorporate it into our house. The other issue I had was in Canada/USA they love high beds and this is due to the box spring and mattress combination, which is clearly to elevated for me. You all know I’ve had a few ops, so nowadays I always find it easier to sleep in an English bed, a bed frame and mattress combination. My poor husband had the task of moving two beds, side tables and a blanket box. The outcome was I had 3 improved spacious bedrooms ready to be Katjazzeled.

The fun part is going to begin, I have to consider bedding, pictures and mirrors etc. I have a good base colour of cream walls and beige carpets however I need some injection of colour. I do have a passion for interiors as I started to train as an interior designer and later became a certified home stager. I should really explore this more because I get such a buzz walking around home interior shops. Only time will tell if I’m able to pursue this avenue assuming my illness allows me too. I know for sure, I would donate some of my income to carcinoid cancer in one way or another.
